Canopy structure in the Middelheimpark in Antwerp. Dutch artist John Körmeling was asked to design a multifunctional pavilion that would accentuate the north-eastern entrance to the park. Körmeling took inspiration from 1950′s American petrol stations and from modernist architecture. The dendriform columns resemble for example columns in the Johnson Wax building in Racine, Wisconsin designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The round glass volume was added later.
