Facade fragment of the Unité d’Habitation in Firminy by Le Corbusier. Less well-known than the housing project in Marseille it has the same basic scheme: An open-air ground floor with nature running through the ‘pilotis’, the houses from first floor up to the roof with communal services. The block has interior corridors on every three floors. On each side of the corridor is a house of which one has an extra floor above and the other an extra floor below. So basically each house consists of one and a half floor.
