Il Giardino / The garden of the Fondazione Querini Stampalia building in Venice, Italy. The ground floor and garden of this old palazzo have been renovated in the nineteen sixties by venetian architect Carlo Scarpa. With its meticulous detailing his work reflects a craftsmanship in architecture that was already becoming nearly extinct in those days. However the modern style of his work and his choice of materials, mostly concrete and steel are generally associated with industrial applications. This overlap of an era of old fashioned craftsmenship with an era of industrial modernity in his own unique style makes his work unparalleled.
